MOTOROLA VRS750 VEHICLE REPEATER MODEL P2081A. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The VRS 750 is a mobile radio system component which provides on-site repeater capability between a portable radio and a base station. The VRS 750 gives the portable user the equivalent range of a mobile radio with the flexibility of a portable. The VRS 750 is designed to interface with an ASTRO mobile radio, however it can only transmit and receive clear analog transmissions.
The VRS 750 receives transmissions on the portable radio's transmit frequency with the matching access Private Line (PL) and passes these portable signals to the mobile radio, which re-transmits these signals to the base station on the mobile radio transmit frequency. Note that these transmissions have the mobile's ID, not the portable's.
Similarly, base station signals received by the mobile radio are sent to the VRS 750 and re-transmitted to the portable radio. The VRS 750 does not provide local repeater capability (received portable signals are not repeated on the portable receive frequency). The VRS 750 is a simplex only interface; the VRS 750 cannot receive and transmit simultaneously.
The base station-to-mobile and mobile-to-base communications protocol is not limited to analog only. Rather, the features and functions of the ASTRO Spectra mobile and the base station limit this interface.
The VRS 750 is a cross band repeater that operates on either UHF or VHF frequencies. The VRS 750 cannot be operated with a mobile radio operating in the same band as the VRS 750 unit.
The VRS 750 is designed to be a stationary repeater system. The VRS 750 should always be disabled when the vehicle is moving. Failure to do so could result in unreliable or conflicting system operation. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION INFORMATION SUPPORTED MOBILE CONFIGURATIONS The VRS 750 supports the ASTRO Spectra mobile with a Remote Control head type of W4, W5, W7, or W9 (W3 not supported). The ASTRO Spectra mobile frequency band must be different than that of the VRS 750, as the VRS 750 supports Cross Band Operation.Analog, IMBE/CAI, and 9600 baud Trunking signaling types are supported but VSELP is not. Supported Accessories: The VRS 750 supports the Motorola Siren (HLN1439A) and the Cosmo Portable Charger (NTN8831A). The charger can be used in conjunction with the control head vehicle interface ports for automatic enabling/disabling of the VRS 750 by the presence of the portable in the charger. VRS-EP Support: The VRS 750 is over-the-air interoperable with VRS-EP units. Programmable Frequency and Channel Spacing: These VRS 750 parameters can be programmed using ASTRO mobile CPS. Refer to the specifications section below. Power Adjustment: A High or Low selection can be made using ASTRO mobile CPS. From the factory, Low is set to 275mW and High is set to 2W.
The power level can be adjusted using the Global Tuner Tool. Automatic Multiple Unit Priority Algorithm: Each VRS 750 will monitor for other VRS units in the area the result is one single priority unit for each scene. Portable Priority Interrupt: The VRS 750 will monitor for portable activity to allow both trunking access and priority portable communications.
Mobile Detector: This feature allows the VRS 750 to operate in a mobile radio system configured for two frequency simplex operations without a fixed repeater. Housing: The VRS 750 is packaged in a metal chassis with a shielded plastic lid that protects the transceiver from any interfering external RF energy. The chassis is designed for the most rugged environments. PROGRAMMABLE FEATURE SET The following VRS 750 settings can be programmed using the ASTRO Spectra Mobile CPS. Repeater Access PL: This feature only allows portables with the correct matching PL frequency to access the VRS 750.
It can be programmed to any of the standard PL Code frequencies. Mobile Mode Steering: This feature allows the portable operator the ability to select the mobile mode on which messages will be transmitted and received. This is done via PL tones. The operator may program as many as eight such tones, along with the corresponding mobile mode numbers, in the VRS 750. The portable operator sets the portable channel switch to the position corresponding to the desired mobile mode and keys up the portable. The VRS 750 automatically steers the mobile to the desired mode.
In addition, one of the PL modes can be programmed as selected mode, allowing the portable user to transmit on the mobile mode last selected via the mobile control unit within the vehicle. Emergency Activation: The portable and VRS 750 can be programmed so that the user can generate an emergency alert from the portable. The VRS 750 detects the emergency and activates emergency in the mobile. The mobile will enter emergency just as if the emergency button had been pressed on the mobile control unit. Transmitter PL: The transmitter PL generator causes the VRS 750 to repeat base-to-portable with a specific field-programmable PL tone. The user can monitor the mobile channel via his portable and still have PL protected audio. In-Car-Monitor: The VRS 750 can be programmed to allow a person inside the vehicle to communicate with the dispatcher and portable users at the same time (BOTH) or to the dispatcher only (BASE).
When BOTH communications is selected, the person inside the vehicle can also monitor any voice activity. Access Acknowledgement and Mobile Time Out Timer (TOT) Tones: To give the portable user assurance that the VRS 750 has received his transmission and repeated it over the mobile, two tones are sent back to him. A high-pitched tone is sent if the message was repeated over the mobile. A low-pitched tone is sent if the message was cut short due to TOT being exceeded. In addition, trunking tones are also passed to the portable.
Time-Out Timer: A built-in time-out timer feature is standard and may be set to 30, 60, or 120 seconds. The timer prevents prolonged system tie-up. Should the timer turn off the VRS 750 repeater, the logic circuit automatically removes the repeater from the priority state, allowing another unit in the system to assume the repeat function. Flashing Display: The ASTRO mobile can be programmed to alternate the display between the mode display and the VRS in-car-monitor state (VRS BOTH or VRS BASE) when the VRS is activated.
Channel Revert: The ASTRO mobile can be programmed to change modes to a specified VRS mode when the VRS 750 is activated. Please note that most of my stuff comes from government auctions.
Unless I mention it in the ad it does not have one. Electronics takes all auctions very serious, and will make all attempts to provide accurate information on each item listed. We try our best to test all equipment. Some items we will not have the equipment, facilities or knowledge to do so.
